Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/ Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for responding to drug information inquiries, preparing formulary monographs and class reviews, completing contract – related projects, and teaching (didactic and experiential). In addition, the clinical pharmacist will have project management responsibilities for fee-for-service endeavors of the DIG.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Respond to drug information questions.
- Prepare formulary monographs and class reviews.
- Develop continuing education articles.
- Participate in the education of PharmD. students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents, fellows, international scholars, and other pharmacy staff by serving as a preceptor and role model and as defined by the guidelines and requirements of the Departmental of Pharmacy Practice.
- Provide didactic teaching at the College by serving as recitation facilitator, lecturer, and/or course coordinator.
- Facilitate the advancement of knowledge in health care by participating in research and scholarly activities by continually participating in at least one service related project and publish at least annually.
- Coordinate the creation of content and training for specific educational and clinical programs including the teaching, assessment of students, training of faculty, including but limited to emphasis on clinical pharmacy provision and management, experiential education, skill development and clinical services.
- Project management responsibilities for fee-for-service endeavors of the DIG.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
- Completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency or equivalent required
- Must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by start date.
- Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured, clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency or fellowship in drug information or 2-3 years equivalent experience in drug information preferred.
- Experience in medical writing, formulary management, and medication use policy are preferred.
- Candidates with experience or ability to incorporate innovative uses of technology are encouraged to apply.
- Highly preferred skills include strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; ability to demonstrate flexibility, work independently, and adapt to a changing work environment; and excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
